Do’s and don’ts of video marketing

Video is becoming a major part of creating content and with this, it is fast becoming one of the better ways of consuming content. According to a statistic from HubSpot most people prefer consuming content through visual methods over written content. Today, with so many people creating content social media is a dominant force. Creating visual content should be a major part of your content marketing strategy.

Here are a quick set of tips. These tips can be used in any form of animated content or ad creation.

Let’s get started

Do’s

Create Variations of Your Video Ads. There’s no better way to turn off your target audience than exposing them to the same visual ad. No matter how well an ad converts there will be a time when it becomes saturated. By adding or creating variations of your video you can avoid losing your potential viewers’ interest.

Keep Content In Line With Keywords. This will help you to get your videos out there by giving both your “SEO” efforts and your return on investment an organic boost.

Market Your Visuals. You have to take care of all the visual elements that your leads will find after taking action on your video ads … Thumbnails, banners, channel trailers, they all count!

Track Your Adverts. Make sure to integrate any video ads you run with your channel and to use YouTube analytics to regularly re-strategize and redefine your content, your methods, and your target demographics. Want more insight 4 tips for testing and measuring your social media content?

Educate. A video ad with “how to” content is unlikely to be skipped by viewers when it shows them content of their liking.

Don’ts

Don’t Overspend. As I mentioned in last week’s message. You don’t have to or want to go overboard with spending on ads in the beginning. It will take some time to tweak and monetize your ad to where it becomes profitable. Therefore, scale your ad spend as you see the results.

Don’t Mislead Viewer. Never show your viewers something that your offer or actual content can’t match. It can help you to get a decent number of views at first, but it will only leave you with a bad reputation in the end.

Don’t Promote Poor Quality Videos. This is a no-brainer, but why so few find success with YouTube Ads is because few people are tuned in about details such as good lighting, quality of audio, background, etc.

Don’t Try to Go Viral. Focus on creating content that helps your subscribers or target audience. Your focus shouldn’t be going viral with your message, and they don’t need to be. If you take this approach you are coming at this from the wrong perspective. This will backfire and lead to dismal results. Remember, videos go viral on their own when viewers push them to others. So, focus on generating conversions.

Don’t Focus On Number Of Views The number of views has nothing to do with converting traffic into customers. Your focus should be on “User Engagement,” clickthrough rates, and new subscribers as examples of how your ad is performing.

Lastly

Construct your videos with the buyer’s journey in mind. You want to create videos for the following 3 stages:

Attraction/Awareness- these videos are aimed at turning strangers into visitors. The type of videos you want to create are short and educational. At this point in the journey, your potential customer isn’t aware of the challenges they face.

Engagement/Consideration- These videos are helping your prospects make well-informed decisions. You are trying to turn your visitors into leads. At this stage, you’re creating the, “How to,” videos, product demos, and promotional videos.

Decision/Delight- at this point in the journey you have a customer. Crafting marketing videos welcoming them into your brand, business, or subscriber. Additionally, you want to have a video library setting up your customers for success. Again focus on product training and education.

Why video is exploding on social media

I hope this helps,
Paul
